A fashion and entertainment presenter and commentator based in London, UK. I have appeared on BBC One, RTE, S4C, World Fashion Channel, Fashion TV, Vogue TV, GBC, BBC Asian Network, Brit Asia TV, YGTV, Spectrum FM, SLBC, ITN, E4, ITV, On FM, Gaydar Radio and Stonewall Live USA’s first ever international broadcast.
I won Fashion Icon of the Year 2011 at Fashions Finest Awards UK, and was nominated for London Personality of the Year 2012 at London Lifestyle Awards. I was also nominated for Positive Role Model 2013 at National Diversity Awards. I am very thankful to all those who voted me when the nominations were opened to the public.
Born in Sri Lanka, I started my career at the age of 6, as a child performer. I was also a classical Dancer, and became a Model at the age of 15. Having worked in Asia and the Middle East, I moved to London in 2004 and continued modelling.
I also worked on events, shows and promotions for various brands including Volkswagen, Hutchison Whampoa, Estee Lauder, Gucci, Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Guerlain, Givenchy and Nicole Farhi.
I moved on to fashion & entertainment commentating and presenting in 2009. Credits include London Fashion Week, Clothes Show Live, Ideal Home Show, Alternative Fashion Week, The Only Way is Essex Christmas special, Made in Chelsea, and various showbiz parties, launch events and fashion shows.
I also hosted media events at the BBC TV Centre and BBC White City. I both organised and hosted various social gatherings, networking events, “themed” evenings and soirées titled Socialite Evenings by Emmanuel Ray. These events took place in various exclusive venues in London’s Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Westminster and Chelsea neighbourhoods.
I presented at Fashion Week Gibraltar in Spring/Summer 2012, a 3-day event. In the same year, I reported from Brighton Fashion Week and presented at the annual 46th Botswana Independence Day celebrations in London’s Club Colosseum.
I have raised funds for and supported various charities including SOS Children’s Villages, Save The Children, Tree of Hope children’s charity, Great Ormond Street children’s hospital, London Evening Standard’s Dispossessed Fund, St Mary’s Hospital Pædiatric Unit, Look Ahead Housing & Care, Shelter, Samaritans, Photovoice, Portugal Prints, Derbyshire Hepatitis C Charity, Sri Lanka Christian Association, Castledon School (Essex) for children with special needs, School Bus Project for children in Sexaxa village (Maun) Botswana and Sri Lanka’s Animal Welfare Bill. I currently support St Anne’s (Church) Hoxton’s charity for homeless people and their youth club for children from low-income families.
I have also supported human rights and peace campaigns, representing Britain in Los Angeles’s celebrity-led NOH8 Campaign against California Proposition 8, and in the international All Out campaign against the Ugandan government’s controversial anti-gay bill. I was involved in the Ministry for Peace campaign in British Parliament, 4D for World Peace by Uniting for Peace, and have campaigned for the Ceylon Workers Congress in Sri Lanka, supporting poor manual labourers in the tea plantation sector.
I am currently based in London, and am available for most presenting & commentating work. I love traveling so work overseas is always welcome. Fashion & entertainment aside, I am also interested in food, dogs, arts, culture and literature.
What you’ve just read is a summary of key highlights from my work. It would be impossible to summarise a career that spans 32 years and 3 continents, covering work both in front of and behind the camera and stage! I guess I should put everything down on paper at some point.
Thank you for visiting my website.
